Student loan debt now constitutes the second highest consumer debt category – behind only mortgage debt – and higher than both credit cards and auto loans. Join us for a CLE event covering the treatment of student loans in bankruptcy. Our experienced panelists will present viewpoints from debtor's practitioners, counsel for the United States, and the bankruptcy bench. They will discuss the parameters of what constitutes a student loan, the dischargeability of student loans, the Chapter 20 approach, the repayment of student loans in bankruptcy applying the Brunner test, and the Ninth Circuit’s acceptance of a partial discharge. They will refute the myth of the perfect debtor and present many practical approaches to the problem of student loan debt.

Glen Dorgan, Esq. -  U.S. Attorney

D.J. Rausa, Esq. – Attorney at Marshall & Associates, PLLC
